Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need to see a specialist?

The decision to seek therapy, counseling, or coaching is one that you must decide for yourself. This can be made easier by asking yourself a few questions. Do you feel unhappy with your life? Do you feel like you could be accomplishing more in your life and relationships? Do others in your life point out areas they feel you need to improve upon? Are you going through a period of transition in your life (relationship, job, personal)? Do you feel like the quality of your relationships have lowered? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, therapy may positively impact your life.

How do I make an appointment?

You can easily make an appointment through any of the following options:

Please note we will only return calls for those that leave voicemails including your name and contact phone number.

What are your services like?

The feel of our services will be different for every individual, couple, and family. This is because they will be guided by your preferences, personality, learning style, and speed. Some individuals prefer to “get straight to the point” while others like to explore all possible options, choices, and challenges. The important aspect is that you are comfortable throughout your therapeutic and wellness process and are able to express your wants and needs at all times.

Will my services be confidential?

One of the foundations of all of our services is confidentiality. We practice at the highest standards to maintain confidentiality at all times. Confidentiality will look different for minors, couples, and families. In addition, we do follow all state laws regarding mandating reporting and potential harm to self or others. This will be discussed in an in-depth manner during the initial session and we will gladly answer any and all questions throughout our time together.

Where is your office located?

Our physical office address is 1 Civic Center Drive #320 in San Marcos, Ca. Above the front doors of the building it states "Executive Offices" and is located next to ABC Veterinarians. We do have a waiting room so please feel free to come into the suite when you arrive.

What are your session times?

We attempt to provide session times that are most convenient for you and your family. This includes early mornings and evenings. You are able to "lock in" your session time to ensure consistent session times that follow your weekly routine. However, if your life does not allow you to have a fixed session time you are also able to discuss a new time each week with your provider. Individual sessions are 50 minutes in length, couples and family sessions can be 50 or 90 minutes, and Therapeutic and Behavioral Services in home coaching sessions range from 90-180 minutes in length.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. we provide telehealth via HIPPA compliant web-based platforms. “There are no conclusive studies indicating telehealth is either any less effective than traditional face-to-face counseling or that telehealth should not be used to treat an individual with a particular condition or disorder.” (Montgomery, A. The Basics of Telehealth. The Therapist, 27(1), 78-82). We require additional consent forms / emergency contacts, upon your decision to utilize telehealth. We highly encourage individuals and couples to try online counseling, in that it can be more conducive for busy schedules, be it lunch time sessions where you do not have to leave work or late-night sessions after kids have gone to bed.

How do I pay?

Payment is due at the time of each session. We accept cash, checks, HSA/ FSA, and all major credit cards. We do require a 24-hour notice for all cancelled sessions; failure to do so will result in you being charged for the missed session. The majority of insurance providers do not cover cancellation fees. Due to this, the client is responsible for 100% for late cancelation fees.

What are the session fees?

Our standard fees are as follows: Individual Psychotherapy $150.00-$200.00, Couples Psychotherapy $175.00-$225.00, Family Psychotherapy $200.00, Individual Coaching $100, Therapeutic and Behavioral Services $80.00. We do have a sliding scale, that allows us to reduce the cost of sessions based on income. Fees are set by standards in the field based on therapist level of training, specialization, and education.

Is coaching the same as therapy?

The short answer to a long question is no. Coaching relates to one specific topic and stays on that one topic in a forward-thinking approach. This may look like of anxiety management coaching or behavioral coaching. Therapy on the other hand can address a wide variety of issues and looks in all directions. This may look like therapy to address anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges and then looks at your past, present, and future.

Another major difference is that therapists are able to make clinical diagnosis and utilize clinical assessments. This is because therapist have completed at least a masters level program, work toward licensure, complete continued education requirements, and follow stringent guidelines from an oversight body, such as the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

How qualified are the coaches?

Due to the fact that the coaching field is not regulated there are some coaches with little or no training. This is not the case for the coaches at the Therapeutic and Wellness Solution Center. All of the coaches that you will find here meet or exceed the training and experience requirements established for therapists.

The coaching programs that we provide are areas of specialty for the Therapeutic and Wellness Solution Center therapists, in which they have devoted thousands of hours to each specific topic they are offering a coaching program in with the support of other specialists.

What insurance do you accept?

Therapists Jessica, Jennifer, Kara, Tawnee, and Jessie are in network with Lyra Health. Jennifer, Marsi, and Tawnee are in network with Aetna, Oscar, Oxford, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and United Healthcare for California based clients.

Although we do not work with most insurance companies we will provide a Superbill to any of our clients that would like to utilize their out of network benefits.

How do I know what my out of network benefits are?

1. Call the customer service phone number for customer located on the back of your insurance card.

2. Request to speak to the benefits department. Inquire about your Outpatient or Professional Behavioral Health out-of-network benefits. The procedure codes we use for psychotherapy are: 90971 for initial intake and 90837 for additional psychotherapy sessions. Note: Use of out-of-network benefits do require a formal diagnosis. You are able to inform the benefits department representative that you do not have a diagnosis code at the time of the call.

3. If you do have out-of-network benefits, ask if there are any restrictions. For example, couples counseling being excluded, a limit of visits, having to use a certain practitioner, etc. Ask if your benefits are subject to your deductible, coinsurance, out-of-pocket max, etc…

4. Be sure to document the date, every detail from the call, included but not limited to, a reference number and who you spoke with. Ask them to send you the information in writing.

5. Please note that we may accept a single case agreement. However, this will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
